On July 6th, 2025, the NL for SL Foundation brought together the Sri Lankan community in the Netherlands for an unforgettable Cricket Carnival and Family Day Out at Haagse Voetbalvereniging ‘S.H.V’ in Den Haag. From 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM, families enjoyed a day filled with sports, culture, food, and entertainment, all while supporting a worthy cause.
A Day of Cricket and Community
The highlight of the event was the 6-a-side cricket tournament featuring softball-elle and football matches. Teams competed throughout the day in a spirited display of athleticism and camaraderie, bringing together cricket enthusiasts of all ages. The tournament showcased the community’s passion for the sport while fostering friendly competition.
Entertainment and Activities
The festivities included DJ music and dance performances that kept the energy high throughout the day. Children enjoyed dedicated fun activities designed specifically for them, while adults participated in traditional Sri Lankan games. The free entrance policy ensured that everyone in the community could join the celebration.

One of the event’s standout features was the authentic Sri Lankan food served throughout the day. Guests enjoyed string hoppers for breakfast, traditional kottu for lunch, and flavorful fried rice for dinner, along with a variety of Sri Lankan short-eats and drinks.
